NEWS

The County Women make the trip to Gosforth to play the Regional Finals of the Walker Cup this weekend. There will be three games against Durham, Lancashire and Northumberland. Good luck to the squad which can be seen by clicking HERE

For the County Men the Regional Finals of the Balcomb Trophy competition are scheduled to take place this weekend. Cumbria will be competing against teams representing Northumberland, Durham, Yorkshire and Lancashire at Borough Park Bowls Club, Redcar.
 Cumbria's first game will be against Durham starting at 0930 on Saturday, with the second and third games scheduled to start at 1300 and 1600 respectively. Sunday's games are scheduled to start at 0930 and 1300.

The draw for the first round of the knockout stage of the Roland Starkie Cup has now been made and has been added to the competition page. All ties to be completed by no later than 3rd June and, unless mutually agreed otherwise, to be played on a neutral green.

WOMEN'S NORTHERN COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

The Women's Northern Counties Championships was held at Appleby Bowls Club on Sunday 4th May.
 It was a cold but dry day but Cumbria won the Triples and Fours and reached the final of the Singles, so a successful day on the green.
 
Lesley Metcalfe won her singles semi-final against Durham but lost in the final to Yorkshire.
Linda Abram, Gill Dawes and Noreen Fleet beat Durham in the triples semi-final and got a win over Northumberland in the final.
Rachel Forster, Tina Smitham, Carole Bannister and Vicky Cook in the fours took out Durham and got victory in the final against Yorkshire.

OVER 60 MIXED 6 RINK COUNTY COMPETITION

Bowls England have announced a new county competition for this season. It is an Over 60 Mixed 6 rink competition, which is played on a Tuesday during the day. 12 male and 12 females plus reserves are required.
 
Cumbria's first game is against Durham and will be played at Houghton Dairy Lane on Tuesday 17th June, commencing at 2pm. This is a knock out competition and should we win this game, further dates are 15th July and 5th August with the semi-final and final taking place during the Nationals at Leamington.
 
Selection for this team will be by John Bell and Margaret Docherty, and we are looking for people to nominate for consideration by 1st May. Players do not necessarily need to be members of the county squads.

Opening Day 2025 was held at President Carol Smith's club, Wetheral Bowling Club where 50 squad members and invited guests enjoyed a pleasant day, helped by the good weather. A game of bowls was played between the President's team and the Vice President's team and the Vice President's team won the cup. An excellent meal was served up by members of Wetheral. Thanks to all involved.
The 2024 Annual General Meetings of the Cumbria County Women's Bowling Association (the CCWBA) and the Cumbria County Bowling Association (the CCBA) were held at the WIGTON BC on Wednesday 6th November 2024. It was agreed by all that the new constitution for the unified Cumbria Bowling Association be adopted. A copy of the constitution along with Appendix A giving a detailed description of the new organisation can accessed using the buttons below.
